Obituary

Philip A. Burke, 73, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Monday, October 5, 2015. He was born in Milton, Massachusetts on May 1, 1942, a son of Edmond and Josephine Burke. He lived much of his life in the Greater Boston area, retiring to Maine in 2002 with his wife, Dianne. Phil worked for Coleman & Sons as an eminent domain appraiser for his career and served as a reservist in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 23 years, including four years of active duty, rising to the rank of major. Phil was an exceptional step-father and husband, always generous and loving. The family could always count on him and reveled in his golf stories. He was a proud member of the Cape Neddick Country Club in Cape Neddick, Maine, golfing regularly and even up to three days before his passing. Phil's golfing friends always brought smiles and laughter into Phil's life. He had great times with them on the courses and enjoyed the humor they shared. On May 11, 2003, Phil had his well-deserved hole-in-one at Deep Brook Golf Club in Saco, Maine. He played in many tournaments and memberguest events, winning or placing second on several occasions. Phil was predeceased by one brother Brian Burke. Phil is survived by his wife, of 29 years, Dianne, two step-children Bonnie Dill and her partner Susie Dugovic of Kennebunk, and Michael Heim and his wife Yuly of New Britain, CT, three grandchildren, Haley Dill, Jedd Dill and Brad Heim, brother Jerry Burke of Ogunquit, and a sister Judy Burke of Ashland, MA. Visitation will be from 3-5PM Thursday, October 8, 2015 with a Service at 5:00PM at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will be private in Limington Village Cemetery.
