Obituary

Adrien J. Couture

Biddeford

Adrien J. Couture, 93, of Biddeford, passed away on Thursday December 18th, 2025 at The Landing in Saco, where he resided for the last three years of his life.

He was born in Sainte Marie de Beauce, Canada on April 15, 1932, a son of Georges and Valeda (Gosselin) Couture.

While in Canada, Adrien worked on the family farm and in logging. At the age of 25, he moved to the United States.

When Adrien first settled in Biddeford, he worked in various industries including Landry's Farm, Pepperell Manufacturing and Saco Lowell Shops. Adrien always had an interest in cars and a penchant for fixing things, so it was no surprise that the majority of his working career was spent doing auto body repair and mechanical work. He was employed at Roland's Body Shop for many years and went on to West Street Motors, retiring in 2004.

Adrien had many interesting hobbies. He mostly loved being outdoors. Hunting, Fishing, Clamming and 4 Wheeling were some of his favorites. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, blueberry picking and woodworking. He especially loved helping family and friends in any way he could. He was always very generous with his talents and his time! He could fix practically anything! We had a saying in our family, "If Adrien can't fix it – throw it away".

Heaven has truly gained a beautiful soul! We on earth will deeply miss your smile, twinkling blue eyes, kindness and sense of humor! May you rest in peace and soar with the angels!

He was predeceased by his wife Doris (Cantara) Couture on July 22, 2020 and by 5 siblings: Jean Couture, Laurence Couture, Clement Couture, Laura Mercier and Florence Fecteau.

He is survived by his only daughter Rachel Smith, two grandchildren: Spencer and Stefani and six siblings: Armand Couture, Conrad Couture, Aline Mercier, Aurore Morin, Lucille Landry and Huguette Paquette, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 11AM - 1PM, with a Funeral Service at 1PM Friday, January 9, 2026, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, Saco.

Burial will be private in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford.
