Albert R. Lamontagne
Albert R. Lamontagne, 72, of Scarborough and formerly of Biddeford, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
He was born in Biddeford on September 29, 1950, a son of Raymond and Marge (Demers) Lamontagne. He graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1968.
Al enjoyed working at Bill's Pizza in Old Orchard Beach and was a member of the ROTC during high school He was employed by Shaw's Supermarket as produce manager while serving in the United States Reserves. Following his time with the supermarket chain, Al spent 38 years in the United States Army. He was in various positions which included drill sergeant, guidance counselor and recruiter. He retired in 2010. During retirement he went back as a civilian for an additional 10 years helping with more recruiting.
Albert had many interesting hobbies. He enjoyed NFL football, high school basketball, scary movies, gardening and line dancing. He also liked cribbage, cooking and eating chicken tenders whenever he had the chance.
Al will be remembered as a loving husband and father and for his love of family. He kept things simple and was a strong shoulder to lean on when needed. The family has many memories that they will hold on to and cherish forever. He will be sadly missed by many.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine (Devou) Lamontagne, his stepdaughters Patricia Bartlett, Michele Hallett and husband Mark and Jaime Luongwe and husband Rafiq and several grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Richard Lamontagne and wife Holly and Karen Canning and husband Mark and several nieces and nephews.
