Albert A. J. Martel, 78, of Saco, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

He was born in Biddeford on September 26, 1942, a son of Edmond and Grace (Michaud) Martel.

Albert was a truck driver for many years for Waste Management.

Albert had many interesting hobbies. He was known as "The Commish" while playing crocket. He followed Nascar, New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. He worked on small engine repair with his best friend and his brother Dick. But most of all, he loved his family and the time they spent together, especially at dinners, cookouts and on Sunday's.

Albert was always willing to help others and volunteered for The Friends of the Community in Biddeford.

He was predeceased by his wife June on April 2, 2011.

He is survived by three children, Ed Martel, Barb Adams and her husband Jim and Thom Martel and his wife Jackie, six grandchildren, Ian, John, Michael, Cheryl Ann, Kyleigh and Nadia and great granddaughter Juliette. He is also survived by five sisters Mary Jane Labelle and her husband Ray, Florence Rykhof and her husband Al, Yvette Collins and her husband Charlie, Rita Garon and her husband Phil and Pauline Klatt and his brother Richard Martel and his wife Reba, and relatives Mona Lemelin and Gene, Chet Stackpole and Diane, Geraldine Bucklin and Rod, Chipper Duncan, Becky Tufts and Wayne and Donna Stackpole, nieces and nephews.
