Obituary

Alberta A. "Berta" Jemery

Alberta A. Jemery, 84, of York, Maine passed away early Thursday morning on October 19, 2023 at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco, Maine.

She was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on February 1, 1939, a daughter of Louis and Charlotte (Bond) George. She was raised in Salem, MA and received her education from the Salem School system.

Alberta was married to Henry Jemery, on August 1, 1955 in Salem.  The young couple settled in Beverly where they raised their five children, Henry Jr., Wayne, Deena, Steven, and Sharlene.  In 1980, when the children were a little older, the family relocated to Palmyra, Maine.

Alberta was a dedicated mother and homemaker, working hard to give her family the best that she could.  When her children were grown and out of school she became a CNA.  She had a heart for serving others and found great fulfillment in giving compassionate care to seniors at various nursing facilities located in Pittsfield and Dexter, Maine.  Even during her retirement years Alberta continued to serve the elderly community by becoming a Senior Companion, which she was very passionate about.  The local press praised her for her 20 years of dedication, as she appeared in a few newspaper articles.

Alberta was the #1 Elvis fan in the universe.  She loved all things Elvis and had an amazing collection that her family and friends helped her build over the years.

Alberta was an avid knitter and crocheter.  In the 1970's she belonged to a lady's knitting group that met weekly.  She knitted a Christmas stocking for every one of her family members, and made numerous toys and stuffed animals for her grandchildren.  She also regularly donated hats and mittens to children at local schools.

Most of all, Alberta loved the time spent with family and friends.  She will be sadly missed by many.

She was predeceased by her husband Henry W. Jemery Sr. in 1997, and by her brother Louis George.

She is survived by five children, Henry Jemery Jr. and wife Gloria, Wayne Jemery and wife Patricia, Deena Jemery, Steven Jemery, and Sharlene Jemery, by 12 Grandchildren, and by 22 Great-Grandchildren.  She is also survived by one sister Gertrude George, and by many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11AM Thursday, October 26, 2023, at St. Michael's Cemetery in Rollinsford, New Hampshire. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Alberta to the Boston's Children Hospital.
