Armand "Sonny" Cunningham passed away on October 6, 2025, in Biddeford, Maine, just one day shy of his 78th birthday. Born in Biddeford on October 7, 1946, Sonny spent his life rooted in the community where he was raised and ultimately departed.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Sonny served his country with honor and distinction. His bravery was recognized with the awarding of a Purple Heart; a testament to the sacrifices he made in service to his nation.

Though known for being a private person, those close to him knew of his deep appreciation for the outdoors. He found peace and joy in hunting and fishing—pastimes that connected him to nature and offered quiet reflection. In quieter moments at home, he enjoyed watching episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond", a show that brought him laughter and comfort.

Sonny's legacy lives on through his daughters: Donna Richard and her husband; Tracie Mahar and her husband; and Melissa Cunningham. He was also blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward memories of their time with him.

He was predeceased by his firstborn daughter, Carrie Chandler, and his firstborn son, Scott Cunningham.
