Armand "Joe" Janelle

6/16/1938 - 3/12/2024

He was..... a father, a husband for 64 years, a son, a brother, a father-in-law, an uncle, a nephew, a-son in-law, a friend, a good neighbor, compassionate, a machinist, a millworker, an inventor, an electrician, a television repairman, a musician, a singer, a tinkerer, a caregiver, a sufferer in great pain, a hard worker, self taught, a provider, a good bowler, an avid C.B. enthusiast, all these things and more.

HE WAS A GOOD MAN

Now he can rest.

He was predeceased by his son, David Janelle in 2014; by his four brothers, Lucien Janelle, Renald Janelle, Raymond Janelle, and Marcel Janelle; and by his four sisters, Claire Cyr, Bertha Dubois, Jeanne Boudreau, and Helen Lavigne.

He is survived by his wife, Simone Janelle; by his son, William Janelle and wife Lorraine; by his sister, Priscilla Strunk; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hour will be 4:00 – 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco.  A graveside service will take place the following day at 11:00am, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.

A Friend Forever

I meet Joe many years ago even if it was by chance. After all that is how you often meet a true friend.

Can't remember exactly where we first met. But I am sure it had to do with working on TV's. We both did repairs at Old Orchard Beach (OOB) hotels. I later visited Joe at his home. We both had a repair a shop in basement.  He updated his workbench and gave me the old one. It was quite the task to get it in my basement but I make it fit. It was rugged. It has been more than 35 and I still have it. He later started a video production venture called "Sky Line Video". It was impressive to see all the recording equipment he has setup. What I remember is the Commodore Amga computer that he used for working on his videos. Whenever I made my way to the house, it was always fun and entertaining hanging out with him. He was quite the guitar player and loved karaoke.

We both got into the CB radio craze. We had antennas up to get longer transmitter distances. We talked over the CB for several years even when the rage faded. Today my antenna is still up. Also have a couple working CB radios.

We kept in touch off and on for several years until about3 years ago, got a phone call form Joe. It was great to hear from him again. We started hanging out usually once a week. He loved to play at a couple of local venues. We mostly worked on organizing all the computer music, documents, videos, and karaoke music. After editing and fixing text information, they were all numbered and printed the words for the karaoke songs.

All the karaoke songs were installed on a new laptop computer. The laptop was mounted with Velcro on a removable metal plate. It was then adapted to mount on a tripod. He loved having all organized and easy to use. Unfortunately he did not get to use it much. He did get to use where he played karaoke with his friends. He found it harder and harder to remember how to set up the laptop and run it. We had good times and lots of fun. I will always be thinking of him. And I am humbled and honored to have known him for what seems to be for only a short time.

I have decided to not look at his passing as a loss, but rather a stroke of luck that fate brought us together and gave us good times during your short time here on Earth. It was a blessing knowing you, and proud to call you my best friend.
