Arthur O. Liberty Jr., 79, of Arundel, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Arthur was born in Whitinsville, Massachusetts on January 9, 1944, a son of Arthur Sr. and Helen (Derenne) Liberty. He grew up and was educated in both Massachusetts and Maine.

Arthur married the love of his life, Betty Sanborn, in 1979.  The young couple settled in Arundel where they raised their family.

Throughout his life Arthur worked in various construction, demolition and welding jobs, and even ran his own company up until retirement.  During his golden years Arthur's skill and creativity were highlighted in the many lawn ornaments, windmills, axes and tools he fabricated.  His family said that he had an eye for making something beautiful out of ordinary, everyday things.

Arthur also had other interesting hobbies. He had a great love for the outdoors and spent a lot of his free time riding his motorcycles, hunting, fishing, trapping, and raising and training his bear dogs.

One of his favorite pastimes was to rent a booth at the Arundel Flea Market on the weekend, and spend time with his close friends while selling at a table.

Most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.  He will be sadly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife Betty Liberty of 44 years, and by his loving family.

Visiting hours will be from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00PM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.   The family has invited you to join them following the service for a celebration of Art's life at The Eagles Club located at 9 Spring Street in Saco from 3-6pm.
