Obituary

Barbara A. Blais

Saco

Barbara A. Blais, 76, of Saco and formerly of Biddeford, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon on August 15, 2023 in Scarborough, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on February 11, 1947, the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (Carville) Pierce. Barbara grew up in Portsmouth, graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1965. Even after she moved away, the city always held a special place in her heart.

After high school Barbra explored several career paths. She was front end manager at Shaws, a store manager at Nike shoe, followed by 23 years at Saco Biddeford Savings Bank in Old Orchard Beach. She eventually retired from the bank in 2008. Barbara's favorite role, however, was that of a wife, mother and nana.

Barbara married the love of her life Aime Blais on April 9th, 1983. The two were lifelong companions and friends, celebrating 40 years of marriage this past April. Together they raised four wonderful children and happily welcomed many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara never missed an opportunity to tell the people she loved, how much she loved them. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her family, Barbara leaves behind many lifelong friends and extended family members. She was a socialite with palpable charisma and a genuine soul. She made connections with people everywhere she went. Barbara's key to happiness was to enjoy the simple things with good company. A trip to the ice cream store or the local coffee shop was a treat to be celebrated.

Mrs. Blais was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Biddeford.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Aime Blais Jr., four children, Benjamin Blais and wife Amanda, Brenda Petit and husband Ray, Michael Blais and wife Missy and John Blais and wife Pam. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Emery Blais, Elena Blais, Cody Petit and wife Whitney, Caden Petit, Katie O'Brien and husband Seth Cote, Kristie O'Brien and husband Ryan McDougall, Jenna O'Brien, Jack Blais and Brooke Blais and seven great grandchildren Carter, Ari, Calvin, Silas, Luna, Ella and Eliza and one brother John Cord.
