Barbara A. Mullen
Old Orchard Beach
Barbara A. Mullen, 77, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME.
She was born in Biddeford, Maine on May 8, 1946, a daughter of Kenneth and Aurise (Hubert) Christian. Barbara grew up in Saco and graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1964. In 1966 she married William G. Mullen, and the young couple settled in Old Orchard Beach where they raised two wonderful children, Karen and Thomas.
In Barbara's early years she worked at Warren's Furniture on Main St. in Biddeford. She later transitioned to the restaurant industry where she worked as a server at many local eateries. Her wonderful personality made her a hit with customers, and she formed lasting friendships with both coworkers and patrons. In her retirement years she worked part-time for Market Basket, and continued with them right up until a couple days before her passing.
Barbara had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid reader, and took pleasure in sitting on the beach in Camp Ellis with a good book while enjoying a clam cake. She never passed up an opportunity to go shopping or dine out for her favorite meal of lobsters. She also loved to travel and had the good fortune of traveling to the Bahamas and Aruba on several occasions with her family.
Most of all Barbara loved her family, and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many.
She was predeceased in 2010 by her son Thomas W. Mullen, and in 2022 by her brother Roger Ledoux.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Dunton; her four grandchildren, Joshua Mullen and wife Nychole, Kylie Dunton, Ryan Dunton, and Alexis Mullen; her two great-grandchildren, Kaydience-Lynne Mullen, and Braydi-Lynne Mullen; her sister Patricia Sherman and husband Richard Bufe, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be from 10AM – 12PM on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, Saco. Burial with committal prayers will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery at 12PM.
