Obituary

Carol A. Boccio

Old Orchard Beach

Carol A. Boccio, 75, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Ozone Park, New York on January 21, 1947, a daughter of Emil and Maria Boccio. She was educated in Ozone Park at the area Catholic school.  As a young woman Carol was employed as a manager for a multiple location family bakery chain.  These years were also filled with many exciting and interesting relationships.  Her family was good friends with the parents of Bernadette Peters, her brother John was a personal friend and classmate of Christopher Walken, and she even got to dance with Dick Van Dyke at a private party.

Carol was a deeply caring mother and homemaker.  She raised five wonderful children, Frances, Tanya, Danielle, Laura and Jessica, and devoted countless hours supporting them in any way she could.  In the mid-1980's Carol moved to Old Orchard Beach where she became an integral part of the community, making many friends.  She made meaningful and lasting relationships with neighbors, and everyone felt welcome to stop in because "the coffee was always on".  She was known for being a very wise, kind soul, with an amazing sense of humor.

Carol had several hobbies and interests, but none compared to her love for cooking and especially baking.  She poured her heart into everything she made, preparing delicious desserts and breads from recipes that were learned during her years running the bakeries in New York.  She always enjoyed a good movie, with her all-time favorite being the Godfather.

For all the things Carol valued and considered precious, there was nothing she cherished more than her family.  She will be sadly missed by many.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Emil and Maria, her brother Frances, her sister Donna, her friend Maria, and friends Al & Regina.

She is survived by her five children, Frances, Tanya with husband Dan, Danielle with husband David, Laura, and Jessica with partner Mike; ten grandchildren, Madeline, Tyson, Joshua, Christian, Justin, Anthony, Vivian, Michael, Frankie, and Isabella; her siblings John, Kim and Geraldine; her cousin Lois who was very dear to Carol, and many additional cousins; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Scarborough.  Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
