Carolyn E. Ferguson, 90, of Biddeford, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Portland.

She was born in Biddeford on October 13, 1933, a daughter of Ralph and Catherine (Mudgett) Stevens. She graduated from Biddeford High School and earned her Bachelors in Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse, from Westbrook College. She furthered this education with training in diabetes and management..

On January 2, 1951, she married her husband Roland Ferguson at St. Mary's Church in Biddeford.

Carolyn, from the generation of hard work, worked at Percy's Drug Store and Bagley's Supermarket when Roland was in the military. Once she received her nursing degree, she was employed by Webber Hospital / Southern Maine Medical Center. She also worked for Portland's Anesthesiology and was nursing manager for State Street Retirement Home in Portland, Southridge Living Center and York Manor in Biddeford. She also served as a nursing consultant for various other nursing homes in York County.

Carolyn had many interesting hobbies that she and her family took part in. She enjoyed camping with family at their camp on Bunganut Lake, swimming every morning before work at 5AM, pontoon boating, RV travel and dancing. She also liked traveling overseas, cruises, cooking and reading. She was an accomplished seamstress, her handmade gifts of sweaters, vests and other articles of clothing are still being enjoyed today by family. These special items mean even more today than ever since her passing.

She was predeceased by her husband Roland Ferguson on February 14, 2015, an infant daughter Carolinda and one brother Richard Stevens.

She is survived by four children Roland Ferguson III and wife Catherine, James Ferguson, Mark Ferguson and wife Linda and Kathryn Martin and husband Timothy. She is also survived by five grandchildren Kevin Ferguson, Lori Laurendeau, James Ferguson and Nicholas Martin, eight great grandchildren Sam, Grayson, Charlotte, Hazel, Evelyn, Valerie, James and Vera and three nieces Joyce Stevens, Heather Mentol and Melissa Mentol.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 17 from 4-7pm. It will take place at The Run of the Mill Public House & Brewery, 100 Main St, Saco, ME 04072.
