Cheryl R. Mullen, 78, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away Sunday afternoon, on January 19, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Cheryl was born in Mansfield, Massachusetts on December 25, 1946. She was the first born daughter to Richard Carfer and Georgia (Milson) Linn. Cheryl was raised primarily by her loving grandparents Oliver and Margaret Milson.

Cheryl was known to be a smart, independent, and hardworking woman her entire life. She participated in many activities during her time at Mansfield High School where she graduated in 1964. She was a majorette in the school's marching band and was part of several dance companies.

In her youth, she tried out for The Radio City Rockettes in New York City. While she wasn't selected to join the dance company, it was a great source of pride that she had the opportunity to try out. After high school, she earned her CNA Certificate at the Norton Vocational Center in Massachusetts.

In her twenties, Cheryl was gifted a horse by her first husband. She took great pride caring for and riding the horse, Benito, everywhere. Throughout the early 1970's, Cheryl was the owner and operator of Pineo Motor Court in Old Orchard Beach.

On December 30th, 1978, Cheryl married William (Bill) Mullen. They spent many wonderful years together before he passed away in September 2002.

Cheryl was especially skilled in mathematics, working for several companies doing data and claims management throughout her life. She spent her time as a parent volunteering for her daughters' booster clubs and traveling to color guard competitions.

In 1982, Cheryl and her family moved to Sunrise, Florida. Her time was spent raising her family, relaxing on sunny beaches, and most importantly, fawning over her beloved football team: The Miami Dolphins.

Cheryl's admiration for the Miami Dolphins was well known among her friends, family, and strangers alike. She especially loved Dan Marino and took any opportunity to voice her passion for the former star quarterback.

While living in Florida, Cheryl joined several bowling leagues and would plan a trip around the Caribbean every year, as she loved to travel.

In 1999, Cheryl and her husband moved back up to Maine to be close to family and to their New England roots. Cheryl spent time skiing and gardening. Her garden was a huge source of comfort and a place she could spend several hours in without pause. Her dog Teddy was also a huge source of comfort and was often jokingly called the "favorite child".

Cheryl was a strong-willed woman with a vibrant personality and while she could be quite outspoken, she was deeply cherished by those who knew her. She was incredibly proud of her family and made sure they knew it too.

Cheryl was predeceased by her parents Richard Carfer and Georgia Linn, her grandparents Oliver and Margaret Milson, and her brother Albert Linn.

Cheryl is survived by her four daughters, Deanne Ledoux and husband Wade, Nadine Dunn and husband Daniel, Cheryl-Anne Hitchcock and husband Randy, and Tracey Gaudette; by three sisters, Nancy Hayes, Susan Moloney and husband Lane, and Carol Tucker and husband Steve; and her sister-in-law, Karen Lynn.

Cheryl is survived by many grandchildren; Travis Hitchcock, Krista Gatlin, Justin Augustus and wife Ashley, Kandace Montgomery, Destiney Montgomery, Devin Ledoux and partner Calleigh McCullough, Jesse Dunn and wife Morgan, Jaxon Dunn, and Ashley Gaudette and partner Brooke.

Cheryl is also survived by two great-grandchildren; Brantly Augustus and Mylez Jackson.

Visiting Hours will be from 11AM – 1PM Friday, January 24, 2025, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.
