Claudette R. Samson, 83, of Saco, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.
She was born in Biddeford on August 17, 1938, a daughter of Alfred and Rose (Lavoie) Gagnon. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School, class of 1958.
Earlier, she was employed by Woolworth's Department Store and Edward's Supermarket. She married her husband Roger on July 4, 1959. She was a homemaker who loved raising her family. She later was self employed daycare provider and spent 10 years with Thornton Academy Daycare, retiring in 2002. Even after all her years of childcare, she would always stop and take time to stop and see a baby or a young child.
Claudette had many interesting hobbies. She enjoyed bingo, church fairs and yard sales. She also liked going to casinos and dancing. She took many rides on her husband's motorcycle and many bus trips with the 50 plus club.
Mrs. Samson was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
She was predeceased by one grandson Austin.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger A. Samson and by four children, Dianne Smith and Ray Goulet, Debbie Hebert and Arthur Creamer, Marc Samson and Darcy LaCourse and husband Dale. She is also survived by six grandchildren Laurie Boucher and husband Dan, Charlie Smith IV and wife Callie, Corey Smith, Chrissy Nichols and husband Brandon, Isabella LaCourse and Ethan LaCourse, four great grandchildren Colton Boucher, Braxton Boucher, Laelyn Smith and Brandon Thompson, one brother Donald Gagnon, niece Donna Jache and nephews Brian Gagnon and Shawn Gagnon.
Visiting Hours will be from 4-7PM Monday, November 8, 2021, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be at 11AM Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel.
