Claudia Elaine Roy, 86, of Saco, Maine, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Claudia was born in Portland, Maine on January 5, 1936, a daughter of Albert E. and Cora (Evans) Hanson.  She was educated in the Old Orchard Beach school system. In 1956 Claudia married her beloved husband, Lucien Roy.  It is said that Claudia caught Lucien's eye while riding by on her bike, and from that point on they were inseparable.  Throughout their dating and early years of marriage they would regularly attend dances at the local Grange Hall and on the Pier at Old Orchard Beach.   They settled in Saco where they raised their three wonderful children Kimberly, Sandra and Steven.

Claudia began her working career at Songo Shoe Factory in Portland, and later was employed at Sebago-Moc in Westbrook.

Claudia was very connected to her local community and belonged to a number of organizations and clubs.  She was a founding member of the Southern Maine Tractor Club, she was a member of the Order of Women Freemasons, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society, just to name a few.  Claudia and Lucien would also make a yearly appearance in the annual La Kermesse Parade driving one of their tractors with covered wagon in toe.

Her other interests included the hobby farm they ran on their 30 acre parcel of land.  She raised cows, horses, pigs, goats, geese…..just about every farm animal imaginable.  Claudia enjoyed going to livestock auctions with her husband.  She also created many wonderful memories at their family camp on Swan Pond where the family spent time boating and waterskiing.  She also enjoyed winters snowmobiling with her friends and family.

Most of all, Claudia loved the time spent with family and friends, and she was especially proud of her grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with her four great-grandsons.  She will be sadly missed by many.

Claudia was predeceased by her husband, Lucien Roy on February 19, 2015; her five brothers, Richard Hanson, Raymond Hanson, Charlie Hanson, Roger Hanson, and Forrest Hanson; her two sisters, Barbara Buono, and Judith Taylor.

Claudia is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Blais and husband Marc, of Westbrook; her daughter, Sandra Levasseur of Saco; and her son, Steven Roy and partner Ellen Cochran of Waterboro; and her sister, Elizabeth A. Higgins of Old Orchard Beach.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Nicholas Blais, Adam Blais and wife Allison, Lauren Ianiro and husband Paul, Patrick Steven Roy, and Jasmine Roy; as well as four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Blais, Charlie Blais, Lucas Blais, and Harrison Ianiro.

Visiting Hours will be from 10AM – 11AM Saturday, March 5, 2022, with a Funeral Service at 11AM at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Interment will take place at a later date.
