Jul 4, 1940 — Jul 21, 2025
Clement J. Doyon
Clement "Clem" Doyon, of Saco, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025 at his home.
He was born in Saco on July 4, 1940, the youngest son of Andre and Ovilda (Corbeil) Doyon. Clem grew up in Saco and attended Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic School.
Clem developed a strong work ethic early on as a child. Being from a large French-Canadian family, he was expected to go to work at a young age to support the family. His very first job was with Eastland shoe. Clem then began his extensive career in automobile sales at Crepeau Motors in Kennebunk. He later transitioned to the Route 1 Auto-Mile in Saco where he spent over 40 years, retiring from Prime Auto Group to take care of his wife Rachel after winning numerous sales awards in his career.
Clem was a man of many talents with an amazing personality. A self taught musician earlier in life, Clem played guitar in a local band called The Sultans performing regularly at the Rochambeau Club in Biddeford. Clem was an avid deer and moose hunter in Southern Maine. He enjoyed gardening, and had a soft spot for animals, especially for his cat PooPoo.
Most of all, he loved his family and friends and the time they spent together. Gatherings with loved ones at his family camp on Kennebunk Pond meant the world to him. He will be sadly missed by many.
Clem was predeceased by his wife, Rachel (Gaudreau) Doyon on February 3, 2009; by the mother of his children, Carolyn (Doe) White on December 10, 2018; by his five brothers, Gerard, Aime, Onil, Armand, and Eugene Doyon; and by six sisters, Rachel Nadeau, Irene Pellerin, Therese Gagne, Helene Rousselle, Lina Therrien, and Annette Belanger. He is survived by his sister Jeanette Cote, the last of his 12 siblings.
He is also survived by three children, Catherine Andrews and husband Mark, Michael Doyon and wife Karla, and Laura Doyon-Brown; He will forever be remembered as "Poppy" by his seven grandchildren, Brian, Nicholas, Tyler, Dylan, Taylor, Brianna and Ciara; and by three great-grandchildren, Everly, Layla and Cayden and by his three stepchildren, Daniel Doyon, Ricky Doyon and Sharon Doyon; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be from 11AM-1PM, with a funeral service beginning at 1PM on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Sam L. Cohen Center for giving Clem wonderful care and so many good experiences in his final years, and to Cote Funeral Home for their exemplary care and assistance.
