Conrad A. Belanger

Biddeford

Conrad A. Belanger, 86, a lifelong resident of Biddeford, passed away peacefully with his family and beloved dog Bella by his side at home on Friday, September 5, 2025.

He was born in Biddeford on March 24, 1939, eldest son of the late Edgar and Yvonne (L'Heureux) Belanger.

Conrad graduated from St. Louis High School, class of 1958. He was a three sport athlete, lettering in football, basketball and baseball. After graduation he played Semi-pro baseball.  His love for sports continued as he coached for St. Louis high school and was a referee for many years. In his later years he never missed an opportunity to reminisce about playing high school sports.

After high school, he served his country in the United States Army National Guard.

On November 22, 1962, Conrad married the love of his life Adeline Lagasse at St. Andre Church in Biddeford. They were married for 61 years and were blessed with three children.

Conrad's working career began with Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford. Once married, his father in law taught him the trade of carpentry and cabinet making. This was the start to a lifelong successful career. He eventually owned and operated his own company "Belanger Homes"employing many family members, building high quality affordable homes.  He took a correspondence course through Chicago Technical College for drafting blue prints. He worked as a carpenter/contractor / developer for many years, retiring in 2004. Carpentry was not a job but his passion.  Never was there a day that he dreaded going to work. He made many lasting friendships, through his work, which meant a lot to him.

After retirement Conrad kept very busy.  He loved to cook, golf and would attend his grandchildren's high school and college games along with various school activities. He tinkered around his house, took great pride in his vegetable and fruit gardens. He always grew an abundance of produce that he was always happy to share with others. One of his favorite pastimes was mowing his lawn on his John Deere tractor.

A traveler he was not, but Aruba became a comfortable destination that he and Adeline would escape to every year. This had the perfect mix of sun, beaches, casinos and good cuisine.

Mostly, he was very much a family man. He helped each of his children build their houses. When his grandchildren were building or remodeling their homes he was always there to supervise.  He loved cooking meals for his family, especially during the holidays. Everyone looked forward to his pork pies.  His clam cakes were the best!  Family gatherings at holidays always involved lots of games which brought out his competitive spirit.  Some of his favorite family games were Trouble, Yahtzee and Left- Right- Center.   He also loved a good game of Cribbage. (He was unbeatable he would tell you!)

He was predeceased by his wife Adeline on October 18, 2023, by one grandson Nicholas Demeule and siblings Rocky Belanger, Rita Cote and Raymond Belanger.

He is survived by three children Cherylynn Markellos and husband David, Brian Belanger and wife Wendi and Judy Ann Demeule and husband Todd. He is also survived by eight grandchildren - Kyle, Briana, Shane, Anthony, Heather, Patrick, Jillian and Justin, seven great grandchildren -Tanner, Saylor, Bryson, Tate, London, Everleigh and Nash and three sisters - Theresa Dube, Priscille Giroux and Carol Paquette.
