Constance M. Collard
Constance "Connie" "Memere" Collard, 87, of East Waterboro, and formerly of Saco, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, with her loving husband Roger by her side, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Connie was born in Biddeford on April 29, 1937 to William and Irene (Gilbert) Landry. She grew up in Arundel and Biddeford, and graduated from St. Joseph High School, class of 1955. She married her beloved husband, Roger Collard Sr., on April 27, 1957. The young couple initially settled in Biddeford, but soon made their home in Camp Ellis where they raised their seven children. She was well known and adored in the community, where everyone affectionately referred to her as "Memere".
Besides raising seven children, Connie spent many years working outside the home. She will forever be remembered for her time at Wormwoods Restaurant and at Garside's Ice Cream.
Connie was always ready for an adventure. Her favorite hobbies included boating and bowling. She and Roger also had the good fortune of wintering for 17 years in Florida where she often gathered with friends to play cards, shuffle, shoot darts, and ride her bike.
Most of all she loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents William and Irene Landry, and by her brother Albert Landry.
She is survived by her husband Roger Collard, Sr. of 67 years; by her children Rita Chatman (Dan), Robin Larochelle (Michael), Rachel Collard, Roger Collard Jr. (Ruth), Reggie Collard (Nancy), Rodney Collard (Joan), and Ricky Collard (Kathy); by 21 Grandchildren, and 22 Great-Grandchildren. Connie is also survived by her brother Raymond Landry (Lorraine), by her sister Joan Moison (Conrad), by her sister-in-law Jeanette Landry, as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, Saco, Maine. Burial will be private.
