Cynthia J. DeMartino

DeMartino, Cynthia Joan, nee Plante, 90 of Saco Maine, and formerly of Arlington, Massachusetts and New Hartford, Connecticut, died peacefully in her sleep on August 27, 2021. Beloved wife of Joseph Edmund DeMartino, who pre-deceased her in 2016.

Cindy was born in Hartford, CT, raised in New Hartford and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1953. She worked as a medical secretary at Children's Hospital in Boston and after a 3 month excursion to Europe took a part time job at Sears Roebuck in the Fenway selling china where she met the love of her life, Joe. They were married in 1957. She was an artist, and her palette was her home in the hills of Arlington which she packed with her 7 children, husband, countless friends, and assorted animals, which her kids would bring home. She was a talented cook and baker; known for her pecan pies which she made for friends and neighbors at the holidays. She was a founding member of St. Eulalia's where she served on the Women's Guild and the Christian Service Commission. She worked for the Episcopal Chaplaincy of Harvard for 25 years before retiring. She volunteered many years and was the president of the Women's Auxiliary at Southern Maine Medical Center, where she co-chaired fundraisers with the late Barbara Bush raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to build the Barbara Bush Pavillion. She was a nurturer and enjoyed spending time with family and later in life with her 19 grandchildren. There was always a home cooked meal. "The Silver Fox", as she was fondly referred to, will be forever in our hearts and sorely missed.

Cindy is survived by her son, Joseph Thomas DeMartino and his fiancé Jason Stefani of Provincetown, MA, Michael Paul DeMartino and his wife Tobey of Arlington, MA, Anne Marie Lee and her husband Timothy of Wells, ME, Cynthia Louise DeMartino of Andover, MA, Peter James DeMartino and his wife Amy of Bolton, MA, Mary Frances DeMartino and her partner Richard Kendall of Falmouth, MA and Carrie Rose Scoville and her husband Darrel of Scarborough, ME. She leaves 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild and one on the way:  Joseph and Jackson DeMartino; Jeffrey and Thomas Lee, Kelsey Lee Murray and her husband Brian; Jaclynn, Jessica, Mary Rose and Raymond Forster; Isabella, Emma and Mia DeMartino; Ryan, Michael, his wife Jess, Christopher, Connor, and Meghan McCarthy; Kaleigh and Morgan Scoville and Francesca McCarthy. She is also survived by her brother Robert "Bobby" Plante of Winsted, CT. She is pre-deceased by her brother E. Thomas Plante Jr., and her parents, E. Thomas Plante, Sr. and Julia Plante.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass and celebration of her life at 10AM, Saturday, October 9 ^th , 2021 at St. Eulalia's Church, Winchester, MA, followed by a reception in the parish hall.
