Cynthia L. Hodak

Arundel

Cynthia Louise Hodak, 64, of Arundel, passed away Thursday evening on January 6, 2022,

surrounded by her family at home.

She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on May 26, 1957, daughter of Leonard and Eleanor Gray.

Her love for horses began at a young age in 4-H and her Shetland pony named Cindy Two.

She graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School in 1974 and went on to work for Hartford Life and Accident.

Cynthia married Paul B. Hodak in 1984, and moved to Farmingdale, New Jersey.  She became mother to her two daughters Nicole in 1986, and Kristen in 1988. She immersed herself in the local horse community, and started her first business, RTS Tackshop out of her home.

In 1998, she moved to Arundel. Cynthia worked with her partner Al Dube and operated

Al Dube Quarter Horses in Biddeford / Arundel.

In 2000, Cynthia traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona where she became certified in Monte Foreman Natural Horsemanship. She used her knowledge of Natural Horsemanship to compete regionally and nationally in AQHA and NRHA shows. In 2011, she continued the family business when Al passed. They offered horse riding lessons, training, conditioning, showing, boarding and many other services. Al Dube Quarter Horses transitioned to NB Farms in 2017, selling high quality hay, and beef. In 2019 she started working for the Biddeford School District driving school buses, and obtained her CDL license in 2021.

Cynthia was also passionate about helping others heal, and became a Reiki Master in 2016. She practiced out of her home until the time of her passing.

She enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her daughters and grandson in her free time.

She was predeceased by one brother Jack Gray and by her partner Al Dube on January

16, 2011.

She is survived by two daughters Nicole Banks and her husband Aaron, Kristen Hodak

and partner Dan Shepard and grandson Mason. She is also survived by sisters

Beverly Duhaime and Sandi Marquis and husband Tony, former husband Paul Hodak,

nieces and nephews, and her loyal dog Faith.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family on Saturday, January 15th from 1PM-3PM at her home in Arundel. A larger celebration for all friends and family will be held in May.
