Cynthia J. Reed-Workman

Cynthia Reed-Workman, 89, of Saco, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at home.

She was born in Norwood, Massachusetts on September 5, 1933, a daughter of Gordon and Cynthia Jane (Lepper) Reed.

Cynthia was raised on a farm with her brother, mother and father. She did her undergraduate degree at Connecticut College. After graduation she met and married Allen Workman who was in the army at the time. She lived in Germany where the first of her 3 boys was born. Allen's continuing education found her back in Connecticut at New Haven here her second son was born. Her third son was born in Walpole Massachusetts. As life went on she received her law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts and went on to begin her career.

Cynthia was employed by Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency for over 20 years. She worked on financing housing developments with mixed income tenants. She strongly believed that once people got to know one another there would be less strife in the world.

In the mid 1990's, she retired to Portland to be near her artist aunt Ruth Rhoades Lepper Gardner of Southport Maine and her sons of Saco and Portland

She was an avid gardener. Family meant the most to her and the time they spent together. Whether it was birthdays, holidays or simple get-togethers, many special memories were made that will be held on to and cherished forever. She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her three sons, Gordon Workman and wife Stefanie, George Workman and John Workman and wife Sharon. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Shona, Samuel, Julia, Henry, Kathryn and Sage Workman. And one brother John Stewart Reed and wife Sue Welch-Reed. Two nieces Elizabeth Reed-Emerling and her 2 boys Nicholas and James Reed, and Beatrice Reed.
