Obituary

Dana F. Howland, 59, of Saco, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 in Scarborough.

He was born on March 7, 1965, a son of Russell and Gladys (Clements) Howland. A lifelong resident of Saco, he graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1983.

Dana started working at the Clambake restaurant when he was 14 years old.  Over the 45 years of his career, he developed lifelong relationships with employees and sales reps alike. Many became like extended family with whom he loved to share adventures.  It was there he met Joanne and they married on April 18, 1989.   He would always introduce her as his beautiful wife Joanne. In 1995, they welcomed their daughter Mickella. Joanne and Mickella were Dana's whole world.

Dana loved to travel—20 weeks a year to be exact!  His numerous cruises (around 135 but who's counting) were enjoyed with his wife, family, and many different friends.

He always looked forward to spending time with his best friend and brother Chris.  They managed to find time to talk every day and most recently you could find the "boys" at the Man Shed.

No doubt that Dana's greatest accomplishment was being an unbelievable dad to Mickella.  She is his pride and joy.  He lived life to the fullest, giving his all to everything he did. He was a dedicated husband, the greatest father and the hardest worker. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his parents Russell and Gladys and by his brother Russell (Rusty) Howland Jr.

He is survived by his wife Joanne Howland, his daughter Mickella Howland and her wife Marlena Ross, and Madeline Stalnik who was like a daughter to him. He is also survived by siblings Linda Sargent and husband James, Mark Howland and wife Mary, Holly Lamontagne and husband Richard, Sherry Geaumont and husband Randy, Chris Howland and wife Julia, and Vickie Baronas and husband Lee and by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, do something special to brighten someone's day--family, friends or a complete stranger.  Let's keep Dana's loving and generous spirit going by doing it the Dana way!
