Daniel Alfred Correa

Daniel Alfred Correa, 78, of South Berwick, Maine, passed away on November 25, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Daniel was born in Bronx, New York on May 6, 1946, a son of Alfred Correa and Laura Beecher-Correa.  He attended the Sacred Heart Parochial School in the Bronx, and the Bronx High School of Science. He later studied Mathematics at CUNY Bronx.

He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and was awarded the National Service Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star.  Following his honorable discharge in 1968 he got involved in social activism.  He worked as a mechanic at various automotive repair garages for most of his career.

Daniel wanted to raise his daughters in a safe, slow-paced environment, so he moved his family in 1985 from New York City to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. He raised his four daughters to be independent thinkers with moral values. He believed everyone deserved to live a good, long life and pursue happiness. He strived to stay healthy, walking miles with his daughter, Danielle, just a month prior to his death. His death was a shock to his family and friends. His children were blessed to spend time with him, especially during his later years.  He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

Daniel was a lifelong learner.  Throughout life his favorite hobbies included bird watching, reading, and writing poetry.  He enjoyed playing chess which was introduced to him as a young boy by his uncle.  He loved the ocean, and going for long runs along the beach.

Of all things Daniel valued and considered precious, there was nothing he cherished more than his family and spending time with them.  He was a loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing games with family, taking them hiking or for walks in parks, watching movies together, and engaging in active discussions and debates. He had a passion for photography, and spent time teaching his children the art when they were young.

Daniel was very dedicated to service as he was always helping his neighbors and family members in need.  He was known by all for his witty sense of humor, and would share his wisdom in simple, yet fun ways.

Daniel was predeceased by his mother, Laura Beecher-Correa, by his father, Alfred Correa, by his brother Edward Correa, and by his former wife Carol Boccio.

He is survived by his loving children, Tanya (husband Dan) of NH, Danielle (husband David) of Maine, Laura of Ohio, and Jessica (husband Mike) of Maine; and by his nine grandchildren: Tyson, Josh, Christian, Justin, Anthony, Vivian, Michael, Isabella, and Courtney.   He is also survived by his siblings: Carolyne (husband Kevin) of Connecticut, Frances (husband David) of New York, and Albert of Connecticut.

Daniel's service and burial will be by private invitation only.
