Daniel D.
Sylvestre
Mar 11, 1965 — Jul 4, 2026
Daniel D. Sylvestre
Dayton
Daniel D. Sylvestre, 61, of Dayton, Maine, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in Portland, Maine, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on March 11, 1965, Daniel was the son of the late Donald and Helen Sylvestre. He graduated from Thornton Academy in 1983. Like his parents, he built a life centered on hard work, family, and creating lasting memories with those he loved most.
Daniel recently retired after dedicating many years of service to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. Outside of work, he found joy in hunting, watching hockey, proudly running the scoreboard and playing the music during his son Zach's Portland Junior Pirates hockey games, grilling his famous "Pepe's Chicken," and having a few "Silver Bullets," around his famously oversized bonfires with family and friends. His happiest moments were those spent surrounded by the people he loved.
Daniel had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor that those who knew him will never forget. Whether something took off, disappeared, or simply didn't go as planned, he would say, "She gone!" Sometimes, just to get a laugh, he would say, "You dropped your pocket." His quick wit and playful personality filled every room with laughter, and those familiar sayings will forever bring a smile to the faces of everyone who knew and loved him.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Brenda Sylvestre; his son, Daniel Sylvestre Jr., and his wife, Amy Sylvestre; his son, Zach Sylvestre, and his wife, Emily Sylvestre; his cherished grandchildren, Maria Sylvestre, McKenzie Sylvestre, and Mason Sylvestre; his brother, Donald Sylvestre Jr.; his sister, Susan Greer; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Daniel will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his hardworking nature, his generous heart, and the countless memories created around the grill, at the bonfire, and during family gatherings. He never needed an elaborate occasion to bring everyone together. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on through the stories, traditions, laughter, and love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will take place on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 10:30AM-12:30PM at Cote Funeral Home, Saco, with a Graveside Service following at 1PM at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. After the services, there will be a gathering at Town Line Family Restaurant, 10 New County Rd, Lyman, ME.
