Old Orchard Beach

David B. Jones, 73, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Dave was born in Peterborough, New Hampshire on December 19, 1950, son of Floyd and Joan (Howoy) Jones. One of five children, he grew up an active member in the tight-knit community of Hillsborough, New Hampshire.

In the summer of 1970 he met the love of his life, Bonnie Buckmaster.  The couple married on May 12, 1973 and settled in Hillsborough where they raised their three children: Mark, Kimberly and Nicholas. For many years, Dave owned and operated The Corner Store. He then began a second successful career with Osram Sylvania, retiring with them after more than 25 years. Having worked hard his entire life, retirement wasn't for him. He soon found himself working for Abbott Labs until his final retirement in 2019.

In 1997 the family relocated to their favorite summer vacation destination, Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Dave and Bonnie shared a love for travel and had the good fortune of taking many trips together;  Puerto Vallarta, Mexico being a particularly special place for them.

Dave was a diehard New England Sports fan. Whenever possible the Red Sox would be on at Dave and Bonnie's house and many Sundays were enjoyed watching Tom Brady and the Patriots.

He loved his wife dearly, and was a devoted father to his three children. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially with his grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bonnie Jones; by his three children, Mark Jones and wife Martha; Kimberly Jones and partner Michelle D.; and Nicholas Jones and wife Tamara; and by six grandchildren: Estelle Jones, Audrey Jones, Eleanor Jones, Oliver Jones, Logan Newhall and Amelia Jones.

A graveside memorial service will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco on May 25th, more information forthcoming.
