David Levi Lanoix, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice Home in Scarborough, ME after a brief illness.

David was born in Rochester, NH, on February 17, 1941, the son of Robert and Evelyn (Webber) Lanoix.

David grew up in East Rochester, NH and attended local schools. At 17, he felt a calling to serve his country and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard on October 27, 1959. He especially enjoyed sea duty where he served as part of the North Atlantic Weather Patrol. During his time serving, he traveled to many places including France, England, Greenland, and Norway.

On February 24, 1962, he married Lucille M. Guertin at St. Joseph's Church in Biddeford. They lived in Portland, and Old Orchard Beach before settling in Saco where they raised six children.

David worked as a machinist at various manufacturing facilities in Southern Maine until his retirement in 2003.  In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, turning pens and bowls. He also worked part-time as a custodian at Young School until the age of 79. He enjoyed maintaining the school property and fixing the equipment used by the teachers.

David enjoyed spending time with family and friends, tinkering with cars, watching NASCAR, the Red Sox and more recently the WNBA.

David greatly valued serving his country and community. He served 32 years in U.S. Coast Guard, 32 years in Saco Fire Dept as a Call Firefighter Captain, 10 years in the Fire Police, and more than twenty years in the Knights of Columbus earning Knight of the Year in 2001.

David was predeceased by his father, Robert Lanoix, mother, Evelyn (Webber) Lanoix, sister, Hazel Coyne, and great-grandson, Jaxson Valliere.

David is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille Lanoix, a brother Peter Lanoix of Rochester, NH, his six children, Richard Lanoix and his partner Lucinda Williamson of Waterboro, ME, Linda Douglass and son-in-law Roger of Biddeford, ME, Donna Andersen and her partner Mark Maxfield of Naples, ME, Karen Fortier and son-in-law Frederick Fortier of Saco, ME , John Lanoix, of Arundel, ME, and Thomas Lanoix and his partner Carrie Bernier of Biddeford, ME, 10 grandchildren, Amanda Harrison, Bethany Lanoix, Andrew Lanoix, Vanessa Mouzas, Sean Valliere, Jacob Douglass, Curtis Fortier, Laura Fortier, Mason Lanoix, and Chloe Lanoix. 6 great-grandchildren Allie Harrison, Alden Harrison, Luna Lanoix, Sadie Mouzas, Kayden Mouzas, and Alexis Mouzas.

And several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 4PM-7PM on Thursday, June 19th, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 20th at St. Joseph Church, Biddeford, with a Committal Service with military honors immediately following at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Biddeford.
