David C. McCrum

David C. McCrum, 72 of Waterboro Maine, a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away on April 8, 2023.

The son of Clayton and Elinore (Bowen) McCrum he was born in Hyannis MA, grew up in Cape Cod, MA and Saco, Maine attending Thornton Academy. Later in life David got his Associates Degree at ITT Technical Institute.

David served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, he later was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and was self-employed as a kitchen specialist for many years.

David grew up playing Saco Little League and eventually became a coach, umpire, groundskeeper and league President.

David enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He loved routing for his favorite teams the NY Giants, Boston Celtics and Notre Dame. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

David was predeceased by both of his parents, sisters Nancy Bourbeau and Marie Foran, brother James McCrum, brother-in-law Gerry Wentworth and sister-in-law Elizabeth Williams.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Virginia McCrum, son Jared McCrum and wife Angie, daughter Jennifer Avallone and husband Chad, Grandchildren Cameron, Lucian, Dominic, Nora, Declan and Miranda, and a Great-Grandson on the way.  He is also survived by siblings Larry McCrum and wife Dianne, Eileen Wentworth, Patti Mullen and husband Russell, Michael McCrum and Laurie Thacher, brother-in-laws James Harrold and Tom Harrold, sister-in-law RuthAnn Gould, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12-1PM with a Funeral Service at 1PM Monday, April 17, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. After the burial a reception will be held at the Elks Lodge at 68 Ocean Park Rd., Saco.
