With profound sadness, the family of David W. Normand, 61, of North Waterboro, ME and Lady Lake, FL, announces his passing on Friday, May 07, 2021, following a brief illness. The son of Roger and Lucille (Montpas) Normand, Dave was born and raised in Biddeford and was a 1978 graduate of Biddeford High School. On June 23, 1984, he married the love of his life, Lillian Letendre-Normand, with whom he shared a nearly 40-year union and their beloved son, Justin, their proudest achievement.

An avid sportsman, Dave played hockey throughout his youth and well into adulthood. He was a proud member of the BHS 1977 state championship team and also played football and skied for many years. As a young man, he participated in the legendary Biddeford broomball leagues and was an avid runner in many local road races. He assisted in coaching his young son's many sports teams and had a keen love of the outdoors, particularly golfing, motorcycling, fishing and boating. He was a New England Patriots super fan and never missed a game, loving the recent glory years of endless Super Bowl wins. An outstanding carpenter and all around handy man, his work at his lake home is a true legacy.

Dave retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 2016 after 33 years of government service, beginning in an apprenticeship program and culminating as a Receipt Inspector, with a 7-year stint with the U.S. Postal Service. His last day of work was one of the happiest days of his life and he relished being retired at the age of 56. He was of the generation that began working at a young age, towing a lawn mower around the neighborhood on his bicycle.  He and his wife Lilli enjoyed wintering in Florida and looked forward to many happy years in the Villages.

In 1981, while enjoying a night out in Old Orchard Beach, he met Lilli…and a love story was born. They were true best friends, enjoying many travel, parenting and life adventures, including many wonderful vacations, and were thrilled to be grandparents. He was "Pop Pop" to Natalie and Raegan and loved his time with them. Video chats with the girls always brightened his beautiful blue eyes.

Although a quiet man, Dave was a fantastic story teller and possessed a great sense of humor. He had an unparalleled work ethic and great pride for all he and Lilli accomplished together. He loved Canadian whiskey and swinging a golf club. Following a day of swimming and boating on Lake Arrowhead, Dave's favorite spot was watching the sunset from his dock with his beloved wife by his side. He will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his parents and stepmother Annette Normand. In addition to his wife, son and granddaughters, Dave is survived by his cherished daughter-in-law, Amanda Normand; sister Susan Hutchins (John); sister Carol Normand; brother Dan Normand (Suzanne); and nephews and nieces Chad Lodge, Kyle and Connor Normand, Jenny, Megan, Ashley and Austin Letendre; Goddaughter, Kayla Pike; in-laws, Pris and Dick Letendre; Ramona Darden (Dave); Marc (Terry) and Donald (Donna) Letendre; as well as several step-siblings.

Donations may be made in Dave's name to Haven House - Hospice in Gainesville, FL and the American Cancer Society.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7PM Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at  11AM Friday, May 28, 2021, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Dave will be laid to rest privately in the garden he designed overlooking the lake. Pedro will watch over him. In lieu of traditional flower arrangements, plants and potted flowers are requested so that they may be planted there in his memory.
