Diane Bergeron died unexpectedly at home on January 1, 2025 in Biddeford, Maine at the age of 73.
Diane is survived by her daughter Meghan (Bergeron) Turner of Nashua, New Hampshire; four brothers: Rodrigue Bergeron of St. George, Utah, Richard Bergeron of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Roger Bergeron of Saco, and Donald Bergeron of Saco; and one sister, Joan Keating of Saco. She is preceded in death by her sister Doris Bergeron.
Diane was born on January 21, 1951 in Biddeford, Maine to Rodrique and Mabel Bergeron. She graduated from Thornton Academy in 1969 and from the University of Bridgeport in 1973, earning a degree in Physical Education. She taught Physical Education at the Hinckley School before switching to and embracing her mechanical aptitude in the small engine department at Sears. After a long tenure at Sears, she finished her career at Oakhurst Dairy.
Diane was a lover of animals and a devoted caretaker of her dog Jasper. She also cared for elderly family members in their final days. She loved reading and crossword puzzles. She was also a lifelong lover of sports, a three-season athlete in high school, and competed in field hockey and volleyball at the collegiate level. After college, she played for the Women's New England Field Hockey Association where she also served as their president. She was also an avid lacrosse player. She remained passionate about sports, watching every event on TV. She was an active and dedicated member of the St. Philip Catholic Church in Lyman.
A funeral is scheduled for January 17 at 1:00pm at St. Philip Church in Lyman. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Diane's life. After the service at St. Philip Church, there will be a grave side service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco, followed by a reception at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. All are welcome to attend.
