Obituary

Doris M. Goulet

Biddeford

Doris "Dot" M. Goulet, 84, of Biddeford, passed away on April 2, 2023 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

She was born in Biddeford on September 10, 1938, daughter of Oscar and Almina (Perreault) Lacourse. As a young girl, Dot worked on her family's farm taking care of the animals and handling draft horses.  She even learned to drive the old family pickup truck at the tender age of eight and was often sent out to deliver milk to some of the farm's customers and local farmers' markets. Dot was educated in the towns of Lyman and Kennebunk and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1957.

Dot married the love of her life, Benoit "Ben" Goulet, on February 1, 1958 at St. Joseph's Church in Biddeford. They began their new lives together in Biddeford and raised their three beautiful daughters, Yvette, Madeleine and Aline.

Dot worked in retail with W.T. Grants Department Store and Value House. She later went on to work for People's Choice Credit Union (formerly known as St. Joseph Credit Union) for over twenty years. She loved her career in banking and enjoyed her daily interactions with customers and fellow associates.

Dot was a woman of great faith. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church.  She was active with the Biddeford Band Boosters, Freemont Club and the Tri-City Community Chorus (for over twenty years). She loved to sing!

Some of Dot's favorite pastimes included: spending time with her beloved cat Missy, playing cards, going to the Oxford Casino, reading, gardening, cooking and canning. Her family loved her delicious deliveries of homemade pickles, spaghetti sauce and applesauce!   Dot and her husband Ben had the good fortune of traveling, taking several cruises and trips together. They loved picnicking and taking day trips through the White Mountains with family. In her 50's, she decided she wanted to climb Mt. Washington after beating cancer, so she did!  When Ben passed, she took the opportunity to further her love of horses by visiting several dude ranches in the Midwest!  She was a regular volunteer at LaDawn Therapeutic Riding Center where she fed, walked and sometimes rode the horses.  Dot greatly cherished all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She especially enjoyed attending their many music, sporting and other events.

Most of all, she adored her three daughters and their spouses and all of the love and laughter shared with her family.   She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Dot was predeceased by her husband Benoit Goulet, her grandson Andrew Tremblay, her son-in-law Dennis Tremblay and eight of her siblings.

She is survived by her three daughters:   Yvette Tremblay, Madeleine Goulet and wife Sonja Johnson,  Aline Jacques and husband Kevin, her grandchildren Matthew Tremblay and wife Eliza, Joshua Jacques and wife Kylie, and U.S.A.F. Capt. Zachariah Jacques and wife Katarina, and her great-grandchildren Koby Tremblay, Graham Tremblay and Silas Jacques.  She is also survived by her brother Leo Lacourse and wife Ramonde, sister-in-laws Jeannine Goulet and Ruth Lacourse as well as many nieces and nephews.
