Emma Zixuan
Moisan
Jul 24, 2009 — Mar 2, 2025
Emma Zixuan Moisan
Emma was born at 3:00 AM on a hot July night in the province of southeast China whose capital was once known as Canton.
It was believed that the hot condition surrounding her birth gave her the love for spicy food. Emma loved it hot, especially if it was Szechuan spice hot. She spiced all her food by sprinkling it with spicy Szechuan powder or adding on pickled seasoned radishes.
Emma enjoyed cooking, especially foods that she remembered while a child in China. But food was not the only thing she spiced. At home, Emma's rich and spicy personality came out freely. This was most obvious when she played intense games of Mahjong with her family after eating a Hot Pot meal. It was in those moments when her smiles and laughter would erupt across the room. And when she would hone her skill of teasing those she loved. Yet contrary to Emma's love of spicy foods, her preferences to the outdoors was for the cold, enough to have earned her the nickname 'Snowflake'. On cold days she was often bouncing on the backyard trampoline wearing only shorts and a t-shirt. Emma's personality brought smiles to many, but it was her soft smiles that brought the most warmth. And while she enjoyed spicy food, and cold weather, we all knew her true love was for anything K-pop. She lined her walls with photos of her "boys", of which her favorite group was the South Korean boy band "Seventeen". She was fond of anything artistic having adorned the walls of her bedroom with the lovely trinkets that she collected over her years of travel to various places around the world. Many of these were on trips in China with her family: Beijing, Forbidden City, Great Wall, Temple of Heaven, Shangri La, Kunming, Lijiang, Lugu Lake, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Wuhan.
Emma enjoyed being out of doors. She enjoyed playing badminton with her sisters and mom. Emma enjoyed winter skiing trips to Maine and summer trips to the beach to surf the waves on her boogie board. In January she traveled with her family to Roatan Honduras where she, her three sisters, and mom completed their PADI open water diving certifications together. Emma had a growing interest in the stars and planets, something her father had hoped to nurture further. In the constellation Pyxis there is a star named "Emma Zixuan Moisan". It is located at 8h 38m 21.97s, -29 59' 6.18." We know that the light from this star, like those warm loving memories of Emma in our lives will continue to shine on us long after the life from these stars has also gone away.
We will always miss you, Emma. Love, Mom and Dad, Katie, Alyssa, Leah, Nolan and Ian and family.
