Eva Belle Letellier

Eva Belle Letellier, age 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 2, 2026, in Saco after a gradual decline in health.

She was born in Troy, Vermont on January 14, 1932, and grew up as one of nine children of the late Oscar and Mildred (Plummer) Letellier.

Eva worked most of her career as a File Clerk for Travelers Insurance in the Time and Temperature Building in Portland.

Eva adored cats and was a loving cat mom to several throughout her life. Even as she accepted her upcoming change to assisted living where she was unable to have a cat, she had a small pillow on her chair that said, "A Home is Not a Home Without a Cat". She was a cat person through and through but had a special place in her heart for her niece's dog Quoddy, who would hop right up into bed to snuggle with her in her final months during their visits.

In the past 5 years, her eyesight and hearing deteriorated so much that it was difficult for her to converse with others or enjoy music or bingo, but she did her best to show up and stay active. She was a master macramé artist and loved playing Dominoes, Yahtzee, Rummikub, and doing crosswords and puzzles. While living at the Wardwell, when her vision problems prevented her from doing puzzles, she kept a puzzle table going in her kitchen so staff could come by and put a few pieces in during their shift.

It's difficult to put into words how special Eva was. She "loved hard". She cherished her friends and they cherished her. Family, friends, caregivers - whoever she met, just loved Eva. Because she lived as long as she did, she mourned for several who passed before her.

Eva was a lifelong practicing Catholic and prayed the Rosary every day.

She loved Reny's, ice cold water, Michael's Pizza, Wendy's Chocolate Frostys, and Rapid Ray's Hot Dogs (loaded under the dog, no celery salt!) with chocolate milk.

To say she was a passionate Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan would be an understatement. In Eva's final weeks, Meaghan at The Inn at Atlantic Heights would take her to the giant TV screen upstairs so Eva could see what she could of the games.

She is predeceased by three brothers – Ralph, Don and Roland "Pard" Letellier and four sisters - Ruby Bouchard, Lorraine Soucy, Kathryn Marceau, and Christine Kimball.

She is survived by her brother Sherm Letellier and several beloved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She is already dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family extends deep gratitude to the staff of Compassus Hospice and The Inn at Atlantic Heights, who provided Eva with an exceptional level of emotional support, comfort, and skilled care.

Visiting Hours begin at 10:00am on Saturday, January 31st, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street in Saco, Maine. Burial will be planned for a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
