Biddeford

Fabienne Fortier, 67, of Biddeford, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Packington, Quebec on March 24,1954, a daughter of Patrick and Edna (Morin) Dube.  When she was six years old her family moved from Quebec to Maine.  She was educated in the Biddeford school system and graduated from Biddeford High School class of 1973.  On September 8th, 1973 Fabienne married her beloved husband, Richard "Rick" Fortier at St. Andre's Church; this year would have been their 49th wedding anniversary.  They began their life together in Biddeford where they raised their three wonderful children, Laurie, Bill and Joey.

Fabienne was a deeply caring mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend.  She spent 22 years working for the convent of The Servants of the Immaculate Heart at Bayview Beach in Saco.

Fabienne was a devout Catholic.  Her faith was very important to her and this was a significant part of her life and who she was as a person.  She and Rick were faithful communicants and devoted supporters of St. Andre's Church in Biddeford until it's closing, and then regularly attended Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Good Shepherd Parish, in Biddeford.

Fabienne and Rick loved to travel, and were fortunate to visit many parts of the country, and the world.  Some of their favorite destinations included Australia with her sisters Celine Ball, Denise Paquette, brother Fabien Dube; and Rome with her sisters Pat Perron and Denise Paquette.  Their journeys continued to Hawaii where she spent many winters with Rick.

In addition to Hawaii, Fabienne and Rick also wintered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the past six years. They enjoyed the warm weather, spending time with friends and daily walks on the sandy beaches.

When time permitted and she wasn't working with Rick in their awning business, her hobbies were quilting, ceramics, country music and watching sports, especially the Patriots.

Fabienne lived a wonderful life of kindness, compassion and appreciation of family and friends. She will be sadly missed in our lives.

Fabienne was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Edna Dube, sisters Monique Patoine and Lucie Bertrand, brother Guy Dube (and wife Barbara), brother in-laws Jeanmarc Perron and Roger Paquette, father and mother in-law Paul and Marlene Fortier,

She is survived by her husband Richard "Rick" Fortier; her daughter Laurie Maushart and husband Bran of Charleston, SC; her son Bill Fortier and wife Barret of Amesbury, MA; her son Joey Fortier and wife Michelle of Dayton.  Seven grandchildren, Logan and Rylee Maushart, Aiden, Sam and Quinn Fortier, Alivia and Camden Fortier.  She is also survived by four brothers, Norm Dube (wife Nancy), Lucien Dube ( wife Odette), Dennis Dube (wife Jane), Fabien Dube (wife Cherie), four sisters Patricia Perron, Lise Bertrand (husband Conrad), Denise Paquette, Celine Ball (husband Clayton), brother in-law Gerry Bertrand and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 9:00AM – 10:30AM Thursday March 10, 2022, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM Thursday, the same day at St. Joseph Church, 178 Elm Street, Biddeford.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery later this spring.
