Obituary

Franklyn K. Corthell

Biddeford

Franklyn K. Corthell, 79, of Biddeford and formerly Old Orchard Beach, passed away after a long illness with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Southridge Living Center in Biddeford.

He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on March 17, 1943, a son of Lawrence and Lucille (DeLesDernier) Corthell. He graduated from Lynn High School. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corps and then worked for BP Energy for several years.  He moved to Maine in 1971.

He was employed by Portland Pump for 25 years managing the Underground Storage Tank team.

Frank married his wife Jacqueline Melancon Critchley on April 17, 1999.

Frank was a lifetime member of the Biddeford-Saco Elks and a past Trustee.  During his active time at the Elks, he enjoyed cooking for various events and helping out in many ways.  He was also a member of the American Legion in Sanford.

When time permitted his hobbies included going to Casinos and camping at Acres of Wildlife in Steep Falls. He loved sitting by the campfire reminiscing and feeding the squirrels. He enjoyed his Sunday cribbage time with his son Chris and the challenge for who would win the "trophy".  He cherished this time with family and friends.

During retirement he and Jackie spent six years in Florida and made many new acquaintances. They moved back to Maine when Frank got ill. Most recently he was at Southridge Living Center in Biddeford. He was known by the patients and staff as "The Candyman". He will be sadly missed.

He was predeceased by one brother Larry Corthell.

He is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline; five children, Jessica Cormier and husband Edward, Jaime Critchley, Christopher Corthell, Tracy Corthell and Robert Corthell; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and his sister Susan Saunders.

Visitation is private. A public graveside service will be held at 1PM Monday, June 6, 2022, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterboro. To view Frank's memorial page or leave an online condolence please visit www.cotefuneralhome.com
