Gerard R. Bourque

Gerard (Jerry) R. Bourque, 74 of North Waterboro, passed away on Wednesday February 1st, 2023, at Maine Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Biddeford on October 7,1948, a son of Rene and Jeannette (Cantara) Bourque. He graduated from Biddeford High School, class of 1967. He went on to graduate from University of Maine in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in business management.

Jerry may be best remembered for his time as manager at Brooks Drug Store in Biddeford, Assistant Manager at Reny's Dept store and Dept Manager at Rich's, all in Biddeford. During his time at Reny's is when he met his loving wife Lori Jackson. They were married in August of 1987.

Growing up on George Street in Biddeford he spent many years exploring Clifford Park, and during the winter months, skating at Westbrook Skating Rink. But Jerry's first love was fishing and he frequently expressed that love with his children and grandchildren. He could spend hours telling stories of catching stripers off the rocks at Camp Ellis, and Largemouth at Lake Arrowhead. But nothing made him happier than taking his kids and grandkids on the water to show them how it's done.

There were very few places that he could go without being recognized. From walking through a store in Maine, to walking through Disney World in Florida, someone would always recognize Jerry Bourque, and it would usually end with a very spirited conversation with jokes and laughs. It didn't matter what he had going on, he would always make the time to talk to a friend.

Recently, He and his wife discovered they loved to travel. They would visit family in Florida and explore New Orleans looking for good food and listening to the street musicians. He loved to listen to the blues.

He also loved gathering with classmates where they would talk about old times and volunteer for community projects, such as cleaning up the small cemetery and installing the large iron gate at the Pool Street entrance of Clifford Park. Because of his intimate knowledge of the park he would often get questions about the history and details.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Rene and Jeanette, and one brother, Roland Bourque.

He is survived by his wife Lori, son Jeremy Bourque and wife Suzanne, daughters Alana Morin and husband Rick, and Barbara Bourque and partner John Coolbroth. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cameron, Ethan and Cody, three brothers Richard "Rick" Bourque, Roger Bourque, Donald Bourque, and sister-in-law Debra Bourque, as well as several nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will be from 12pm-2pm on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St. Saco Maine. A private burial will take place in the spring at St Joseph's cemetery in Biddeford.
