Obituary

Harmon D. Woodman passed away on July 4, 2025 in Scarborough, Maine at Gosnell Memorial Hospice.

Harmon was born in Biddeford, Maine, on September 4, 1942, a son of Gertrude and Paul Woodman. He grew up in Saco, Maine, attended high school and graduated from Thornton Academy. Harmon then graduated from the University of Connecticut at the Storrs campus with a bachelor of science degree in physical therapy in 1963. He spent summers from his childhood into adulthood at his maternal grandparents' and parents' homes on Fortunes Rocks Beach in Biddeford, Maine.

He married his high school sweetheart, Jeannine C. Chenard, in 1963 and went on to raise 4 children – Lisa, Todd, Robyn and Jason.

Harmon and Jeannine purchased a 1750's Cape Cod home on 60 acres in Buxton, Maine where he spent his spare time renovating the house and creating a large organic vegetable garden, several perennial gardens and an apple orchard. Harmon had bees, raised small farm animals and had a woodlot from which he cut and split trees for firewood to heat the family home. He was happiest spending time with his family and friends, caring for his babies (orchids), gardening, and mowing the fields on his Kubota tractor.

Harmon had a private physical therapy practice on Main Street in Saco, Maine with business partner, Robert Warner, PT and then later went on to become Director of Rehabilitation Services at Southern Maine Medical Center for many years.

Harmon's faith was extremely important to him. He served as Eucharistic Minister and was a parishioner at Most Holy Trinity/Good Shepherd Church since 1970 until his relocation to Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
