Obituary

Biddeford- Harry (Bud) Nelson of Saco, Maine died on Friday, June 4, 2021 with his loving family at his side after a valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Harry was born in Collins, Mississippi on January 2, 1950. He started his career in radio in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and went on to San Francisco, New York City, St Louis, Denver, Fort Myers, and Boston, among many markets. Harry was in radio all his working life and made many lifelong friends in each of the cities he worked. When Harry worked in Portland, Maine, he fell in love with the state of Maine, and made it his permanent home. The loved ones Harry left behind already miss his warmth, generosity of spirit and the  southern charm that was him, no matter where he lived and worked.

Harry leaves Lynne Hathaway, Steve Kovacs (Brian Phoenix), and Gail Hathaway Audet whom he considered his sisters and brother, his niece, Danielle Audet Khanna, his nephew, Jonathan Hathaway, his McGarrell cousins, his steadfast friends, Gerry, Teddy, Dave, Tim, Steve, Al, Bill, Duke, Mike, among many true friends, and of course, his  cats, Abby and Zoie. Harry was predeceased by his mother, Jewel, and his "Nanny", Helen Hathaway, to whom he was devoted.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Cote Funeral Home, Saco, Maine at 11:00am on Monday, June 14, 2021 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm at St Joseph Church in Biddeford, Maine.
