Helen M. Descoteaux
Old Orchard Beach
Helen Margaret Descoteaux, 72, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 25, 2025, at her home.
Helen was born in Biddeford, Maine on September 23, 1952, a daughter of Lionel and Patricia (Nason) Descoteaux. She grew up in Old Orchard Beach with her brothers, where she learned the value of hard work and the meaning of family. She was educated in the Old Orchard Beach school system, and graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School, class of 1970.
After graduation Helen then went to work for Shape Corporation in Biddeford. She later transitioned to Idexx Laboratories where she was employed as Inventory Manager. She was known by all as an incredibly hard worker, with the strongest of work ethics who always went the extra mile for the company and for her team. She remained with Idexx for an impressive 34 years, retiring in 2023.
Helen had many accomplishments, with the raising of her two daughters as the most significant. Later in life her passion for her family grew with the arrival of her grandchildren. Helen was an amazing grandmother who devoted countless hours supporting them in any way she could; from going to Little League games to High School Graduation … she lived for these kids.
Some of Helen's other interests included watching Hallmark movies, and binge watching Law and Order reruns. She enjoyed dining out, especially for Seafood, and she cherished her daily cup of Dunkin Donut's coffee.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, Lionel and Patricia Descoteaux; and by two brothers, Gerald Nason and Richard Descoteaux.
She is survived by her two daughters, Alison Fontaine with husband Shawn, and Lisa Johnson with partner Bato Lapointe Jr.; by her three grandchildren, Nathan Doody, Matthew Doody, and Tyler Secord; by her brother Robert Descoteaux Sr.; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 11:00AM – 1:00PM on Monday, June 30, 2025 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside memorial service will follow at the family lot in St. Mary Cemetery, Biddeford.
