Obituary

Henry R. Lemelin

Henry R. Lemelin, 89, of Portland and formerly of Saco, passed away on Friday at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born in Biddeford on October 7, 1934, a son of Emile and Marie-Jeanne Lemelin. He was educated from St. Louis High School.

Henry served his country in the United States Air Force. After his service he was employed for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, retiring in 1992.

Henry was a member of the American Legion and a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus.

Henry will be remembered for his love of family and friends. He deeply enjoyed talking to people, whether that was on his mail route or just out in the community. The time spent during retirement in Nalcrest, Lake Wales, Florida with his wife was close to his heart. Henry wanted to stay active and was always busy. He kept working even at the age of 89. He never missed a moment to keep up with his grandchildren's current events and followed their accomplishments by keeping in touch on a daily basis. Henry wanted to make sure they were doing well. He will be sadly missed.

He also was a car enthusiast and liked playing cards.

He was predeceased by one granddaughter Nicholle Lemelin on March 2, 2015 and by two brothers John Lemelin and Richard Lemelin.

He is survived by his wife Simone (Madore) Lemelin, his children Susan Murphy and husband William, Michael Lemelin and wife Kelly and Daniel Lemelin and wife Tracey. He is also survived by five grandchildren Matthew Murphy and wife Emily, Christian Lemelin, Michelle Lemelin, Victoria Lemelin and Joseph Lemelin, two great grandchildren Isabelle and Grace, sister Paulette Cekutis and husband Larry, nieces and nephews.
