Irene A. Tarazewich

Irene A. Tarazewich, 95, of Saco, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine.

Irene was born in Biddeford on May 5, 1927, a daughter of Joseph and Anna (Dubowick) Tarazewich.  She was educated in the Saco school system, and graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1945.  Irene then graduated from Burdett College, Boston, MA in 1946, after which she went to work for Houghton Mifflin Co. in Boston.  For many years she was employed by Cities Service Oil Co., and one of their agents, Canfield Oil Co., both of South Portland.  In 1973 she went to work for Sanborn's Motor Express, and later an affiliate Transport Leasing Corp.  She retired from Merrill Transport Co. in 1991 where she had been for 13 years.

In retirement she was involved with volunteer work at Most Holy Trinity Church, the annual Christmas Fair, the local food pantry, and the Bon Appétit Saco Meals program.

Irene is predeceased by her sister Joan Tarazewich in 1934, her sister Eleanor Tarazewich in 1955, and her brother David Tarazewich in 1991.

Irene is survived by an aunt and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM Friday, December 2, 2022, at Most Holy Trinity Church, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Biddeford.
