James G. Hennebury, 73, of Sidney, passed away early Sunday morning on June 11, 2023 surrounded by his children at Maine General Medical Center after fighting hard and long to overcome many medical illnesses. He made sure his lifelong medical obstacles never got in the way of his love of doing things that made him happy.

He was born on November 23,1949 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of Linus and Catherine Hennebury.

Throughout his career he worked at many different businesses in the food service industry, but found his nitch when he was employed by Sysco Foods for over 33 years, working his way from a warehouse worker up through becoming the Director of Merchandising until his retirement in 2016.

He was an active lifetime member of the Scarborough Fish & Game Association.

His love for his wife and soulmate is one that most envy. Their bond was and still is unbreakable. Whether it was their anniversary trips to Las Vegas, or sitting watching TV together, they were the perfect pair.

James was always paying it forward to others. He was always devoted to his family and friends, and never judged or looked down on others. He was loyal, trustworthy, and could always crack a joke with his kids. He had a passion for fishing, traveling, watching sci-fi movies, spending time with his family and target shooting, even though he proclaimed his daughter was always a better shot than he was.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years Linda, parents Linus & Catherine Hennebury and brother Richard Hennebury.

He is survived by his 3 children - 2 sons James M. Hennebury of Saco, Scott M. Hennebury & his wife Kerri A. Hennebury of Buxton, and his daughter Jennifer L. Manter & her husband Edward W. Manter of Sidney.  He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren Liam, Dennis, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Michael, Emily, and by his sister Catherine Langston & her husband Andrew Langston of Myrtle Beach.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and admiration to the staff of 3 West at Maine General Medical Center who went above and beyond with their compassion, professionalism, loyalty and unwavering devotion to his care.

Visitation will be from 2-4, 6-8PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.  Visiting hours will continue the following morning from 9-10AM, with a Funeral Service at 10:00AM, Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel.  A celebration of life will take place immediately following the funeral service at the Saco Grange Hall, 168 North St., Saco.

A private burial will be held at a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
