Janice Marie Watson, 72, of Saco, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Janice was born in Portland, Maine on October 11, 1951, the daughter of Carlton and Madeline (Riesold) Brewer.  She grew up in Scarborough and was educated in the Scarborough school system.

Janice married Richard Allen Roy and the young couple settled in South Portland where they raised their two children, Ralph and Elizabeth. Richard sadly passed in 1989, when their children were still in their teens.

Through the years Janice was employed with many area companies. In her younger days she worked at the Merry Manor Restaurant, then for several years at Fairchild Semiconductor, and for Der-Tex in Saco until her retirement.

Janice met and married Dennis Watson in 1998.  They lived in Saco together until his passing in 2022.

There were many things that Janice enjoyed doing in her pastime, but camping was near the top of her list.  She spent many weekends with her family at campgrounds like Walnut Grove in Alfred, at Acres of Wildlife in Standish, and at Friends and Family Campground by Sebago Lake. She enjoyed watching Days of Our Lives, Lifetime and Horror Movies.  She found joy in taking a drive around town to visit yard sales, and she loved her cat Midnight.  Twice a month Janice would gather with her old Der-Tex friends for lunch and to share laughs and old memories.

Of all the things Janice valued and considered precious, there was nothing she cherished more than spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed.

Janice was predeceased by her first husband Richard Roy, and by her second husband Dennis Watson.

She is survived by her son Ralph Roy and wife Heidi; by her daughter Elizabeth Roe; by five grandchildren, Christina, Jake, Chandler, Turner, and Richard; and by one great-grandson, Forest Michael.  She is also survived by two sisters, Susan York and husband Philip, and Linda Hettling and partner Philip Bouchard; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 1:00pm to 2:30pm, with a funeral service beginning at 2:30pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.
