Joan B.
Adams
Nov 29, 1935 — Oct 18, 2026
Joan Barbara Adams, 90, of Saco, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2026 at her home.
She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 29, 1935, a daughter of Russell and Gladys (Elliott) Prime. She was educated in the Providence School System, and in 1953 received her high school diploma.
Joan married her first husband, Rodney Lodge, in 1955. Joan and Rodney had three sons, Mark, Kirk, and Brad and from 1955 through 1973 moved several times along the east coast, settling in Saco, Maine in 1973. As time went on, Joan and Rodney eventually parted ways. Joan began working for Nike Inc. on Factory Island in Saco until they closed in 1985. From there Joan worked in admissions for Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford until her retirement in 2002.
It was during her time with Nike that Joan met her second husband, Bernard “Bing” Adams, marrying in 1985.
Joan enjoyed planting beautiful flower gardens as well as vegetable gardens on her property, and was an avid birdwatcher. She often kept a log of the various hummingbirds that visited her feeders, noting the times they arrived and departed each year. Joan also enjoyed her pets, cats Tinker and Miss Kitty and hound dog “King”. Joan and Bing were fortunate to take many road trips together, with Prince Edward Island, Canada being one of their annual destinations.
Most of all, Joan loved her family and the time they spent together. Her favorite pastimes were attending her grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. She will be forever missed.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Adams, in 2014; and by two brothers, Russell Prime Jr., and David Prime.
She is survived by her three sons, Mark Lodge and wife Shirley, Kirk Lodge, and Brad Lodge and wife Lori; by five grandchildren, Kristin, Mark, Chad, Emily and Gregory; by four great-grandchildren, Eliza, Liberty, Lacie and Chloe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private family burial service will be held at Southern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, where Joan will be joining Bernard.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering in Joan’s honor at her son, Brad Lodge’s residence, Tuesday, Oct 27th following the burial service.
