Obituary

Joan G. Nolette

Hollis

Joan G. Nolette, 88, of Hollis, and formerly of Biddeford, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Joan was born on December 26, 1934, a daughter of Joseph and Euphemie (Lessard) Binette. She attended St. Joseph School as a child, and graduated from St. Louis High School, class of 1954.

She married the love of her life, Sylvio Nolette, on September 1, 1958 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. They began their lives together in Arizona where Sylvio was stationed with the United States Army. After Sylvio's military service was over they moved back to Biddeford where they raised their three wonderful children, Mark, Peter and Nancy.

Joan was a caring mother and homemaker who would do anything for her children. She would attend many of her children's activities. Joan enjoyed spending time knitting, and was an avid reader, usually selecting titles about the Catholic faith or St. Therese of Lisieux. Joan and Sylvio made wonderful memories while taking day trips to the White Mountains, and to Colebrook New Hampshire to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Grace. The family also spent every weekend during the summer camping in the White Mountains, where they shared laughs and many unforgettable moments.

She was predeceased by her thirteen siblings, Raoul, Florence, Conrad, Jeanne, Anita, Emilienne, Madeleine, Muriel, Madeleine, Beatrice, John, Priscille, and Richard.

Joan is survived by her husband of 64 years, Sylvio Nolette; her three children, Fr. Mark Nolette, Peter Nolette and wife Linda, and Nancy Nolette; by two grandchildren, Christopher Nolette, and Kay Nolette; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are private. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joan's name to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House: https://www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org/gosnell-memorial-hospice-house
