Joan Dorothy (Loranger) Twomey

Joan Dorothy Twomey, 82, of Port Orange, Florida, and formerly of Saco, passed away on Saturday morning, March 7, 2026 at Advent Memorial Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida.

She was born in Biddeford on September 23, 1943, a daughter of Ralph and Lorraine (St. Louis) Loranger. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, class of 1962.

Joan married her husband Jeremiah "Jerry" Twomey in September of 2006.  Joan was a wonderful mother to her daughter Kathy, and also played a significant role in the workforce throughout her adult life.  Early on she worked for General Electric for eight years, and then transitioned to D&G Machine Products in South Portland.  Later in life she worked 18 years for Pratt & Whitney in North Berwick, retiring in 2006.

Joan was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Port Orange, Florida, where she lead the ladies monthly lunch program.

Her hobbies where numerous, but dearest to her were outings with family and friends, as well as staying home for game night with her loved ones.  Time spent with her daughter and her grandchildren was what Joan cherished most of all.  She was a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren and they meant the world to her.  She will be sadly missed.

She was predeceased by her husband Jerry Twomey on May 28, 2008; and by her four siblings, Ralph "Pete" Loranger, Claudette Faulkner, Connie Verrier and Pauline Loranger.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Sanborn; by her three grandchildren, Sabrina Sanborn, Stephanie Sanborn and Sean Sanborn; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held from 11AM-1PM on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco, Maine.  Prayers at the Cemetery with family sharing will follow at 1:30PM in St. Mary Cemetery, Biddeford, Maine.
