Joel Lake Hanmer, 43, of Lewiston, and formerly of Saco ME, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 2, 2022.

Joel was born in Provo, Utah on May 16, 1979.  He was raised in Saco by his parents, Donna and Jeff Jamison, and his father Michael Hanmer. He was educated in the Saco School system, graduating from Thornton Academy in 1998.

Joel was an incredibly hard worker in the Tree removal and paving industries.

When Joel was not at work, he enjoyed relaxing at the family camp on Roxbury Pond.  Joel's son Max was his whole world and they loved spending time fishing together at the camp; it didn't matter the time of year or the type of fishing.  He's also made great memories fishing with his brother Josh, and his "brother from another mother" Gary.

The years that Joel lived in Old Orchard Beach were some of the happier times for him.  He really enjoyed being part of the OOB community, and he loved the ocean.  He was a diehard New England Patriots and Red Sox fan, and spent time watching and attending games with his buddies.  He also had some great times at the bonfires with the Dayton boys.

What made Joel the happiest was being with family and friends.  He loved spending time with his son Max, with his sister Jessica, husband Bob and children, with his brother Josh, with his best friend Gary, and during the past year with his Father Michael who he affectionately called "Pops".  He got to spend good times with his sister Nikki and her family.  He also loved times spent on Aunt Pat's farm.  We are all heartbroken and he will be sadly missed by many.

Joel is survived by his son Maxim Hanmer; his parents Donna and Jeff Jamison; his father Michael Hanmer; his brother Chad Casey and wife Jen Bonaventura; his sister Jessica Curran and husband Bob; brother Josh Hanmer and partner Daisy Webber; sister Nikki Cole and husband Joe; nieces Brianna, Alexandra, Daisy and Lexi; nephews Jeff and Jameson; and best friend Gary Stanley. We can not forget about his grandmother Shirley Swett!

He was predeceased by his grandfathers Frank Swett and Robert (Peanut) Hanmer and Guy Jamison Jr., His Uncle David Swett and his Step Mother Patsy Hanmer

At the family's request, a private service will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery followed by Celebration of Life at Duffy's Tavern and Grill on Friday, June 10th at 2:30. All family and friends are invited to share some great memories and stories about Joel.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Good Shepherds Food Bank, Auburn, Maine would be appreciated.
