Joseph "Gene" Goozie

Joseph "Gene" Goozie, 79, of Saco, passed away late Saturday afternoon on November 12, 2022, at home.

He was born in Westbrook on April 20, 1943, a son of Marie Jeanne Fraser. He attended

St Hyacinth school in Westbrook as well as Westbrook High School.

Joe served his country in the United States Army from 1964-1967 and was extremely proud of his service to our country. He married his wife Diane Lapointe on July 10, 1971 whom he shared his life with until his passing.

Joe was employed as an assistant technologist for Sappi North America in Westbrook for 34 years.

Joe was very active with Good Shepherd Parish and St. Joseph's Church. He served on the parish council, financial council and cluster council. Joe was an active member of the Knights of Columbus serving as a 4 ^th Degree Knight until his passing.

Joe was an avid sports fan, following the Red Sox and Patriots faithfully.  Joe was also an avid candlepin bowler for many years.

He is survived by his wife Diane Goozie, one son Steven Goozie, three grandchildren Emerald Rose Dailey, Abigail Goozie, and James Goozie.   He is also survived by one sister Geralda Whitzell and several nieces and nephews, Alfred Whitzell, Carol Nelson, Pat Lamontage, Diana Spofford, Michael Whitzell, and Clifford Beck.

Visiting Hours are from 5-8PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel in Saco. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1PM on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at St. Margaret's Church in Old Orchard Beach.  Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
