Saco
Joseph C. LePauloue
Joseph C. LePauloue, 82, of Saco, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, December 18, 2022, at Seal Rock Health Care in Saco, surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born in South Boston, Massachusetts on January 15, 1940, son of Auguste and Margaret (Barnes) LePauloue. From a young age, Joe developed a strong work ethic starting as a paperboy, shoe shiner, and bowling pin monkey. He graduated from Brighton High School, class of 1958.
Joe met his future wife Patricia Cicero in their Boston neighborhood, and they were married on October 8, 1961. The couple relocated to Saco when his employer, Lyn-Flex, opened a brand-new plant there. Joe spent 43 years as a foreman at Lyn-Flex, retiring in 2005.
During retirement, Joe worked in the maintenance department of Thornton Academy where all his children had attended. Thornton Academy continued to have a very special place in Joe's heart. The staff loved his witty stories as he came through their rooms at the end of the day. Joe was also one of Thornton Academy's biggest sports fans, following all sports at TA throughout the decades as he proudly watched his children and grandchildren compete.
Joe's loyalty to the Saco community led him to become a church greeter, baseball umpire for every age group from Little League to Senior League, and a regular Mary's Walk participant. Joe's weekends often consisted of traveling to his children and grandchildren's dance recitals and football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse games. He was also a lifelong Boston sports fan, following the Bruins, Red Sox, and Celtics religiously. Joe was also known to sit around a card table from time to time. Anyone who knew Joe appreciated listening to stories of his youth in South Boston, his dry sense of humor, and his curiosity about the world.
Joe was predeceased by one sister Virginia Finnell.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia LePauloue, his sister, Lois O'Brien and five children: Dawn M. Lambert and husband Mark, Lori A. LePauloue Zukowski and husband Thomas, Joseph A. LePauloue and wife Joanne, David K. LePauloue and wife Rachel and Robert C. LePauloue and wife Alexandra. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Benjamin, Jillian, Ryan, Vanessa, Mary, Christina, David, Joshua, Holden and Wilson: Plus one great granddaughter, Charlotte, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will take place at Cote Funeral Home at 87 James Street in Saco on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, with visiting hours from 11am – 1pm and a funeral service at 1pm. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
