Joseph M. Marinello Jr.

Joseph M. Marinello Jr., 88, of Lyman, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at home.

He was born in Portland on April 16, 1935, a son of Joseph and Anna (Botto) Marinello.

Joe graduated from Portland High School, class of 1953. He lettered in football, was captain of the football team and won the gold ball as state champions his senior year.

After high school, Joe enlisted in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.

After the service, Joe worked for New England Telephone for 40 years. He continued to assist the company with employee training and some consulting during retirement.

Joe enjoyed gardening and cooking. He was an avid sports fan following the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his wife traveling throughout the United States and abroad.

He was predeceased by his wife Doris Marinello on January 28, 2020 and one sister Tina Marie Brown.

He is survived by two step children Donald Holman and wife Amy, Gary Holman and wife Verna, grandchildren Michael and Jessica and great grandchildren Elliott and George. He is also survived by nephew David Alonzo Brown Jr. and wife Elizabeth and niece Krystal Brown Cole.

Visiting Hours will be from 11:30AM – 1:30PM with a Funeral Service at 1:30PM on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford.
