Karen Beth Cesare, 68, passed away peacefully at home in Old Orchard Beach on Saturday, December 6th, 2025.
Karen was born on December 9th, 1956, a daughter of Lawrence and Naomi (Pelkey) Cesare. She was educated at Mattanawcook Academy where she was an avid softball and basketball player. She graduated high school in 1975 and afterwards met and married J. Kirk Hammond-Daniels. Together they raised two children, their family was filled with love and laughter.
Karen had various professions. She was employed as a CNA for many years, she worked diligently as a Deli Clerk at Landry's Shop 'n Save, and was a waitress known for her warm smile and gentle nature.
Karen had many hobbies including softball, knitting, and crocheting. One of her favorite places to be was on the beach, relaxing and spending time with her friends and family. She adored her cats and treated them as though they were another child.
Many knew Karen as Nana Kay. She had a compassionate disposition and kindness that made people naturally gravitate towards her. She was always thinking of others before herself. Her gentle heart will be truly missed by all, especially her family, who she loved more than anything in this world.
Karen was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Naomi Cesare, her former husband: Jeffrey Walton, and her long-term boyfriend, Mark.
Karen is survived by her son: Kristopher Hammond-Daniels, her daughter: Kimberly Hayford, her step-daughter: Jennifer Foster, her two brothers: Jim Cesare and wife Lisa, and David Carlo, and her two sisters: Mary Atkinson and husband Doug, and Sherri Cesare, and her former husband J. Kirk Hammond-Daniels, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held in the spring. Information will be updated at a later time.
